Comme chaque année je suis déçue et je pense "c'était mieux avant".

En plus avant je ne payais pas et je n'en ai pas pour mon argent. Bien sûr il y a de jolies choses ça et là.

Mais où sont passées les mises en scènes qui me faisaient rêver ?

l'espace que j'ai préféré, beaucoup grâce aux belles sculptures en céramique de Clémentine de Chabaneix

Simone Pheuplin, très très bien exposée, est la seule à (magnifiquement) représenter l'art textile

(si on passe les tapisseries de Lurçat)

une très belle installation de Dominic Harris, chaque cadre est un film avec son rythme et sa poésie,

les fleurs s'épanouissent, les insectes passent, c'est doux et fou

sur la page du site de la Biennale de Rijswijk qui concerne le catalogue, c'est ma photo qu'on a choisie pour bannière

"Boire du petit lait :

le "lait" fait allusion à la grande satisfaction qu'éprouve un nouveau né

lorsque sa mère lui donne son lait maternel."

mon fils aîné est en seconde à Louis Le Grand, lycée exigeant où il a plaisir à viser l'excellence,

encadré par des enseignants passionnés et nourri d'une belle culture d'établissement

qui prône l'effort, mais aussi la solidarité, le soutien mutuel

il a choisi de se lever tôt et d'avaler tous les matins 40 mn de métro et 15 mn de marche pour se rendre à son lycée

il travaille beaucoup et obtient d'excellents résultats, il rêve de physique quantique et le monde est à lui

et il est heureux, ce qui nous réjouit profondément

Rijswijk Textile Biennial 2017

The fifth Rijswijk Textile Biennial will take place from 16 May to 24 September 2017. Twenty-four international artists will be showing their fibre art. ‘Well-worn’ textile techniques like weaving, knitting and embroidery, combined with photography and digital processes, are used to express social and political themes, as well as personal stories. Powerful statements about oppression, terrorism, ageing and gender are wrapped in soft textiles. Art that poses questions. Questions that need not be answered right away. ‘Fabric’ for thought.
Provocative knitted portraits of iconic female artists.
Shocked facial expressions in response to terrorist attacks, captured in embroidered self-portraits.
A metres-high tapestry that tells the story of protest, while having right at its centre a stray dog made famous by social media and choosing the side of the protestors.
Politics and art, bound to each other by threads. Thread – that which literally binds. The installation Collective Strings in the forecourt of Museum Rijswijk will grow through the participation of visitors. Kilometres of colourful strings will take to the air, become entangled and create a transparent work of art. The public will do the performing, while the choreography is free-style.

The Textile Biennials at Museum Rijswijk have grown into internationally renowned exhibitions in the world of fibre art. This fifth biennial is no exception. The selected artists are at the forefront in their innovative uses of fibre and textile to express powerful messages with potent imagery.

On Sunday 10 September there will be a textile market in the forecourt of the museum (11am-5pm) and in the Oude Kerk (12:30-5pm) opposite.
